Going to The Ivey has been a win-win situation for us!
"Going to The Ivey has been a win-win situation for us! My wife has enjoyed the camaraderie she finds there and the ability to stay engaged throughout the day. She avoids the boredom that comes from staying home all day. I, in turn, have more freedom to do what I enjoy without the worry for her during the day. Being there cerainly lowers the stress level of the day-by-day care. We both have benefited from our experience with The Ivey." Ralph Greene, MD, husband of member Kaye
I'm thankful for the loving care and personal attention my Mom receives...
"I am thankful every day for The Ivey--for the loving care and personal attention my Mom receives. I have never witnessed any staff member showing signs of fatigue or exasperation--ALWAYS a smile on their faces and a genuine love for the members. What a special gift they all must have; my family truly loves all of them." Brenda Bennett, daughter of member Norma
The Ivey saved my life...
"The Ivey really saved my life and enriched my husband's life after he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Members are greeted each day with a hug from a warm and caring staff. They really become family! I think The Ivey is Charlotte's jewel for assisting both caregivers and their loved ones in getting the critical care that is needed to better cope with this hideous disease." Chris Jones, wife of member Bill
Finding The Ivey was a blessing...
"Finding The Ivey was a blessing. We were doing everything at home to support my mother’s dementia diagnosis. There were home health aides to manage, planning healthy meals for them to serve and staying on top of medications. As a caregiver with a full time job it had become overwhelming and there was very little mental stimulation for her, sitting at home watching television all day.
I thought it’d take her weeks to warm up to The Ivey, but she loved it from the very first day. My mom has never been a fan of arts and crafts but enjoys the art therapy, music, lectures, cooking demonstrations and games. She comes home exhausted from all the fun so she’s been sleeping better. She can’t wait to pick out an outfit to wear the next day.
As a caregiver, the staff has been amazingly supportive. They’ve given me helpful information on how to manage mom’s anxiety and memory lapses. I highly recommend this wellness center." Ramona Holloway, daughter of member Wheezy
The Ivey provides the most comprehensive, thoughtful care.....
"I visited more than fifteen care facilities for seniors with cognitive impairment. The Ivey provides the most comprehensive, thoughtful care for individuals and their families. Our journey through this illness has been greatly enhanced by the care and guidance provided by the entire staff of The Ivey." Beth Hardin, daughter of member Ann
The Ivey is such a gift.....she absolutely loves seeing her friends...
"The Ivey is such a gift to our family. Mom has the opportunity to socialize with friends and participate in stimulating activities from painting to cooking and music with John. She attends Monday - Friday and absolutely loves seeing her friends. The Ivey and the caring staff allow me as the caregiver to go to work without worry. Her time at the Ivey has maintained her quality of life." Leigh Bishop, daughter of member Joan
He is enjoying his life!
"Little did we know how much of an impact The Ivey would have on Gene. After a rocky start, Gene has gone from lying on the sofa all day at home, not wanting to go to The Ivey, to sharing activities and fun things he does each day. He is more outgoing and active at home. He is enjoying his life! Thank you to all the staff for the care you give to those in your program - and don’t forget the peace, joy and rest it gives to the caregivers." Pat Boswell, wife of member Gene
Our lives would be diminished if not for The Ivey....
My mother looks forward to socializing at The Ivey four days a week. The brain engagement she experiences at The Ivey enhances her self-esteem. Our lives would be diminished if The Ivey did not exist. Celeste Bagley, daughter of member Willene
She feels so comfortable and open to express herself...
"Through music, dancing and singing she feels so comfortable and open to express herself as the person I think she feels like inside." Becky Osborne, daughter of member Elizabeth
I have connected with other caregivers.....
Finally the opportunity to work with a staff that truly treats my family member like they are their family member. And I have connected with some of the other caregivers....we encourage and support each other and are able to be there for one another." Diane Mahoney, niece of member Dick
Volunteering at The Ivey.....
Volunteering at The Ivey has given me a greater knowledge of the memory loss process, and more patience and understanding of people in general. As a volunteer, I try to provide positive moments for the members and make them feel special and remembered. Pam Hoseck Strong, volunteer
